Home To Me

It comes late July The buds of flowers race to be the first to bloom The sunset is a beautiful blend of pink on red Making puzzles and always putting the wrong piece in Hearing the squelch in the mud as we walk through the forest Waking up to birds and crickets chirping Playing soccer with my sibling and cousins Feeling the wind blow between the trees Listening to the smoke alarm go off when we make food Then comes early winter Sledding off the hill and praying not to go in the creek Watching the blizzards from my bedroom window Jumping up and down to get the icicles Pretending to be explorers in the forest Making snowmen as tall as we possible can Crossing the little wooden bridge a'top the pond Going on walks in the woods to find our Christmas tree Watching movies by the warmth of the stone fireplace And that is home to me
