Where Home Is

They say “home is where the heart is”, but to me it’s more than that. It’s a place where I’m happy, where memories are made. It’s a place where I can be me. To me, my home is where the smell of my Mom’s homemade bread is, coming out of the oven ready to be eaten. It’s the peace and quiet away from all the noise. But it’s not just that, it’s greeting my Dad when he gets home from work. It’s a dog with a curly tail smiling at me. And it’s a happy cat purring as I scratch her head. It’s my bedroom, my private space and where my wonderful pets and my wonderful parents and people who engulf me in love. To me this is where my home is, and what a home should be. For me, no one can change that but one person, me.
