Nature is My Home

The ground has a fresh blanket of wet pine and leaves after a morning drizzle. Beautiful wildflowers are sprouting out of the soil as if reaching for the sun. The whistling winds are bouncing off trees and whooshing past my ears like a faint whisper. I listen for newborn birds that sing to each other in enthusiastic conversation. The dense underbrush softly strokes the sides of my ankles like a feathery slipper. When I take a deep breath in, the fresh air is flowing in my lungs, cool, like a sweet summer breeze. My nose perceives the delightful aroma of fresh cedar, a scent I hope to never have to live without. I also acknowledge the almost undetectable, but graceful fragrance of freshly fallen rain. The big late spring blueberries leave a sweet taste in my mouth, like pure sugar melting on my tongue. I soak it all in and feel entirely free and at peace. Nature is healing. Nature is home.
