What Home Is To Me

Home isn't just four walls with paint in any colour you desire, or a bunch of furniture. To me, home is a place to make memories, and create lifelong friendships with the people that matter most in life. Home is never just a structure built by people you’ve never met, it’s something that holds memories forever. At school, if you feel overwhelmed and scared, at home you have a safe place to vent out all your worries. All the things that happen, all the trauma you experience, home is where you can feel safe and loved. Your living room isn’t just a TV and a couch, it’s a beautiful place to make memories, and have conversations with special people in your life. A kitchen isn’t just a few cabinets and a sink, it’s there to share beautifully cooked homemade meals, passed down from generations; a kitchen is there to share memories with family and friends. A bedroom isn’t just a bed and four walls, it’s a place to have sleepovers with your family and friends, share memories, tell jokes, and be yourself. This is what home means to me.
