Home Sweet Home

A house is different from a home, Because in every home, memories roam. From camping in the garden and gazing at the night sky, To sipping hot chocolate with my family by my side. A home can be small and shabby for all I care, But just remember, a home can never be bare. Even if there are no elaborate decorations in sight, There will always be a familiar sensation, by your side. The smell of fresh cookies coming from the oven, An album of family photos displayed by the dozens! Fragments of childhood, linger in each room, Echoes of voices, that make my heart bloom. A home is not measured by fancy gear, It’s the moments, that set the tier. The kitchen that holds, the warmth of past meals, The traces of love that can’t be concealed. The living room where you used to chatter and laugh, The only remnants now are some old, dust-covered photographs. I used to daydream all day long, About nursery rhymes and silly songs. But now that my childhood is almost done, I wonder how my future home will become. It feels like a blank canvas for me to write on, A whole new story that is yet to come. Will my children enjoy the same joy I once had? That question makes me feel sad. Sad that my home will now rest in peace, All that is left are vague memories. This place has helped me become who I am. Now it’s time to switch chapters, turn the page, As I move on to another stage. Though this place may fade in time, It will always be my home, which I call mine. Everyone deserves a place to learn and grow, A place, to let your love show. Everyone deserves a home.
