What Home Means to Me
Cuddling in a warm blanket gives me a home kind of feeling. My home feels like a hug, and it's dog fur under my hand. Feeling like I belong also feels like home. My home sounds like a dog barking. Home sounds like the sizzling of a pan, and the soft pitter pattering of dog feet on the ground. My home looks like family, and pets altogether. It’s snow falling on a cold day with the gas fireplace going. My home tastes like butter chicken or tacos, and it tastes like spaghetti or big oranges with juicy centres.
When my siblings get up there is lots of noise, and siblings are a big part of home to me, annoying or not they’re still part of my life. Even if they don’t say I love you they still show it. It may be hard to always love them, but still remember you are family and you don’t always have to love each other. Sometimes your friends can be your family.
When you close your eyes and remember it's like flipping through memories. Stories are shared and memories made. Home is a place you connect to where you have good and bad memories. It’s not just my house but it’s my community, my friends, and my family. It’s my school, and going on walks in nature. It’s saying hi to my teachers. Being on the bus, and talking to friends. It doesn’t matter if it’s big or small, here or there because anywhere can be home even if it’s far away or very close. Some homes might be cabins by a lake or the house you live in right now. Some homes could be in other countries. But most likely home is where your heart is.
