My Wish

My wish is for everyone to have a proper place to call home where they are sheltered, kept warm, looked after, fed, and happy, just like my home. Home sweet home! What home means is different for everyone, it does not necessarily mean a house. For some people, it might mean a house. For celebrities, it might mean a fancy mansion. For the homeless, it might mean the streets. For some people, it can even mean a boat. There is someone who lives on a sailboat with his dog on Lake Ontario. For me, it means a cozy little apartment by the lake where I live with my parents. My home is where my heart is. It is where I do embarrassing and silly things. I tease my parents, practice piano, work on my karate with my dad, discuss ideas, and so much more. I also work unproductively and refuse to get out of bed every morning. Home is where the warmest sense of humour resides and where the loudest laughter is heard like nowhere else. My home is where I grew up since I was born. My home is where I feel safe, happy, and loved. It is where my parents comfort me, teach me, and tell me stories of the past, filled with nostalgia. I feel sorry for the unhoused and for those who do not have a decent place to call home like I do. So, not everybody has a house, but every family deserves the opportunity to have a decent and safe place to call home. Thank you, Habitat for Humanity for making that happen and making my wish come true.
