My True Home

I just moved to Canada and it all has been new to me. The air, the buildings, the people everything is new but I have always came back to a house where I am with my family. They make me feel comfortable and calm. We changed from a basement, to a hotel to my actual house. And every time I was going back I felt like it was my home. When I first went in my first house it didn’t feel like entering to a new ecosystem. It was more like my house had magically changed. Everything was new. The room I was sleeping in, the kitchen, the couch. But it wasn’t weird I had a nice feeling being there. It was familiar. The third day being at one house was like I’ve been living there my whole life It just felt natural. I was there with my family. Being happy. And writing this had made me realize that if it has been that way it is due to my family being there. Now I have a new perspective of what home means. A year ago I would have probably told anyone who asked me. “What does home mean” my answer would’ve been something between the lines of. “‘If house is the name of the building where we live then home has to be the actual house where you live.’” But in this moment my perspective has changed at this instant my answer for the question is. There is multiple houses out there. Each one has and will give you a different feeling whether it is peacefulness, welcoming, family waiting inside for you, maybe even a certain smell or good painting. All those things are what can define your house as a home. You can be living on a house where there is no feeling involved besides the price. A home is a completely opposite thing. It is where you feel nice comfortable, relaxed and calm. It’s where you can stay forever. Without any worry. Just you and your home. It might be where you grew up or your best friend’s house. But every single one of them have something in common. And it is that. Where you feel a sense of belonging. That is your place and true home.
