What Makes a Home?

A house smells like brand new, feels empty and just feels cold. In a home it feels warm, bright and feels like a no judgement zone. Where laughter is shared and where opinions are passed around without any judgment. In a house you would hear a loney cricket chirping outside your window. In a home you would hear it getting filled with laughter and your family sharing jokes between one another. In a house you would see the pantry completely empty, no crumbs to be seen. No shoes laying on the rack, and no beds slept in. In a home you'd see your mothers cooking on the stove. A worn couch that holds memories of family movie and game nights. In a house you would not taste anything meaningful to you, maybe a little cup of microwave kraft dinner but in a home you might taste your mother cooking your favorite meal, the driveway shoved with footprints leading up to the steps of your home. Thank you Habitat for Humanity, for including all people and fostering them in homes with money you have raised. Making houses into homes with your help means a lot. Thank you for helping families build strength, stabilities and independence while trying to get them back on their feet.
