My Home is a Home

My home is not just a place to sleep. It’s where laughter rings and sorrows run deep My home is forever and always a place of hope And a place that has it’s very own trope My home is warm, though dims at times The kitchen always buzzing with the scent of limes The cold kitchen floor, numbing my feet The bread we buy always will be whole wheat My mother and father, forever my cheerleaders, And my playful sister, always the mischief-breeder. Our family gathered, smiles wide as the skies, My joy shining brightly, framed by silvered ties. The widely opened door, rays shining directly through. Indicating the path of loving and togetherness, strong and true. The light showing the warmth of love and home. The water in the tub, reflecting the light along with the foam. My home gives the reassurance of safety. The assurance that we will live safely. My home is a tapestry woven tight. The threads of solace day and night. But my home is a place of love It is not just a place with a rooftop above It is a place of safety, a loving address Everyone deserves a home to remove all their stress Let’s thank Habitat for Humanity, For their love and service to the ones in need To the ones who will appreciate it eternally, Building homes for families to start growing their seeds.
