Welcome Home

As I walked through the door, after 5 years away at university, I felt a burst of joy. I saw my parents walking towards me with huge smiles on their faces. Greeting my parents with a massive tight hug, tears of joy dripped down my cheeks like a waterfall. My parents' tears were even bigger. We chat for a few more minutes and then my dad goes upstairs to check on my little sister. When he’s gone, my mom takes me into the kitchen to make me my favourite drink, hot chocolate. We head to the couch and sit down, then my mom asks,“What does home mean to you?” After thinking for a minute I answer, “Well home means being able to get cozy and share your emotions after a long day. Home also means being loved, understood, and trusted.” Once we finish talking, I head upstairs to look at my old room. It’s beautiful, cozy, and most of all safe. My mom, dad, and sister come up to join me and our home is complete.
