What home means to me

Some may just describe home as a place of residence, but for me I think there is a way deeper meaning to it. Home to me means somewhere that provides me with solace when I’m upset, tranquility when I’m stressed, and a place where I feel loved and appreciated. Home is a place that you want and chose, not a place just to fall into. It is a place where memories are created and enjoyed with those who are most important to you. At home, you are free to take creative liberties without fear of judgement or criticism. Most importantly, a home is a family that offers love, safety fun and guidance. We share our lives together, in both good times and bad, always supporting one another as a team. A house is a dwelling, a home is a place of love. One day, in religion class, we were learning about two young girls who grew up in an orphanage. They had beds to sleep in, food to eat, water to drink and showers to bathe in. They were very isolated, frequently ignored, and were not provided with love or affection. As a result, the two girls naturally became very miserable. They were soon adopted by loving parents and were, for the first time, happy to be in a “home.” The point of the story is that a home is created out of love and is not just shelter. Children need to be nurtured to grow and mature mentally and emotionally. For example, if you buy a plant and put it in your green house, it may get sunlight, but you still need to water it and nurture it in order for it to grow. There are families that are struggling all over the world. There is danger, war, poverty and famine and some children live with it every day. I truly feel blessed to have the wonderful and loving place I call home. I thank The Lord every day for what I have because there are many children in the world that are not as fortunate.
