My Meaning of Home

My belief is that everyone should have a home. A home is different from a house or dwelling. I think a house is a building, but a home is a place where you feel safe and protected, have family to help and care for you, and a place for family to come together. I looked to my home for safety and protection. My home is solid and keeps me warm in winter and cool in summer. It makes sure rain and snow do not come in. I might feel afraid but safe in my home if there was a storm. If I'm scared at night, I can talk to someone, and my family will cheer me up. Strong, locked doors will keep unwanted visitors out. My home and family will keep me safe. Feeling safe is my home means I can feel safe and protected. My idea of home is family. Family means to me people that help and care about me. My family helps with school work, like helping me remember multiplication facts so I don't forget them. My family loves me, and they support me by talking to me about making good decisions and solving problems. Celebrations in our home are important for my family to celebrate our culture with special meals, visits to the masjid, and visits with family and friends. Spending time with my family in our home makes me feel happy and confident. In my home, my mom uses our kitchen to make delicious and healthy food like daal, rice, and roti. We have a modern stove and microwave to cook food, a refrigerator to keep leftovers nice and cool, and lots of hot water to clean our dishes. We share our meals together, which means everyone is talking, helping to set the table, and enjoying themselves with the family. Having a place to come together to eat and be a family is important because it is joyful, and we can hear about my family's day. I believe everyone has a right to a home where they can feel safe and protected with their family and have a place for their family to come together.
