The Meaning of Home

In my opinion, the meaning of home is a place where you can feel safe and have people who sometimes understand you (often, no one will understand you, and hopefully that's okay). It’s a place where you can spend time with the people you care about the most or a spot where you can be alone contemplating life, reading a book, or drawing (three of the best activities to do when you're alone in your room). Home is safe and cozy, but sometimes you need to step out and challenge yourself, away from your comfort zone, away from screens and instant gratification. It's a place of emotions, sometimes conflict, and fun times, whether you're watching an Oilers game or playing. Home can also serve as a place to work or study. If you have homework, you can enjoy quiet work in your room. Home is important. Home is a sanctuary. It should be something to look forward to after hard times. Home should be a place of love, where you can enjoy yourself, challenge yourself, test yourself, and also refuel yourself. Home is what you make it. Whether you despise it or embrace it tightly, as long as it suits you. So, home doesn’t need to be all the things I mentioned. It is what you make it. I just want my home to be not only a place but an essential part of my core. I believe that home grows along with you. As you grow, you change, and so does your home—not just because you hang up new posters or rearrange furniture, but because the meaning of home evolves as you grow. This is very important. The more you grow, the more your surroundings grow. Home is not a house. A house is a physical structure. Home doesn’t have to be where you live. Home can be a place where you get comfort and love. Home is your home, not anyone else's. Please take care of it. Home is a gift. Home is what you make it. Home is important. Home is peace. Home is love. Home is trust.
