When we think home we think of The sweet smell of peppermint cookies near Christmas time The tangy kick in your mom’s key lime pie The birds chirping brightly, a very big flock The beautiful trees on your block The soft blanket your grandma knitted for you The wonderful “Don’t Give Up” posters in your room, now new All of these things are extremely valuable But this is the big picture We are drawn to look above the clouds Yet occasionally we forget the things that matter most Above all, the people that matter most The baker The teacher The cleaner The father The mother The best friend The godsend The team mate The village graduates The coach Even the talent show host All of these important people make the big community This is what home means to me
