The Meaning of Home

Home is where you feel loved, where you feel safe and happy, but most of all, home is where your loved ones are by your side making you feel wanted. My first meaning of home is where you feel loved. Love is what makes a house feel like a home. Imagine if you got home from school one day and your mom or dad didn't ask you how your day was, or what subjects you did that day. Tell you to go to bed or get off your phone once in a while. This demonstrates that home is where love is given and you feel loved because it shows that your parents care enough about you to ask what’s happening in your life. If your parents didn’t ask you that, and you were having a bad day, would you feel worse than you were feeling before? Another example is when I badly bruised underneath my fingernail. It really hurt at the time but it probably wasn't as bad as I was thinking it was in the moment. My dad wasn't home, as he was still at work, but my mom made sure I was ok while putting polysporin underneath my fingernail. Thinking back on it, that did make me feel like my mom cared about me, although at the time I was too horrified about my black fingernail to think about it. The second meaning of home to me is where you feel safe. When you feel safe you may feel contented or joyful, and you may also feel loved and at peace. An example of you feeling safe is when you lie down to go to sleep and know nothing will happen to you while you are curled up in a little ball to close your eyes. The final and most important meaning of home to me is where your family is. Wherever your family is, that’s where you will feel loved, safe and make your most treasured memories. Everybody's family will look different, but as long as somebody you love is with you, you can make any house a home. For example you can feel like you are with your family if you are with a very close friend, a chosen or adopted family, or the family you were given at birth. Family can be anything for anyone and if they make you feel loved, safe and happy, that is all that matters. In conclusion, home is where you feel loved, where you feel safe and happy, but most of all home is where your loved ones are by your side making you feel wanted.
