The Meaning of Home

Home is not just a place with a roof and a door, it is a place to love and be loved. It is with your loved ones, people who encourage you and help you, people who love you. I wake up to the smell of toast and go downstairs. As I am going to the kitchen, I pass my dog. She is lying on her bed, and I stop to pet her. I give her one more pat on the head and then go to the kitchen. The speaker is playing songs as I walk up to my dad and give him a big hug. Even though he is just making breakfast he is still taking care of me, and I acknowledge that. As I get ready for school my mom kisses me goodbye as I walk out the door away from my home. Home. Am I really leaving home? No. I am just going to another. I can have many homes with friends, family, and love. To me home is a place to love, to learn and to be loved. A home is a sanctuary of love.
