What is Home?
A home is not a house, a house is a structure, a home is a place of happiness, grief, and memories. Memories of cooking, eating and laughing. The aroma of hand pies. The living room is a place of blitheness and hair from the dog. A dining room, the place of partaking in a meticulously crafted shepherd's pie, the smell drafts into my nose and I feel happy.
The den where I sleep with the dog trying to find his ball. My brother's bedroom is a place of gloom, with clothes stern apart across his desk. But there's more, a home has a feeling, many rooms have a different quality. Now we walk outside to see my father working hard in his dusty workshop so he can put food on the table and maybe some maple. Now you see home is not just a house it is memories.
This is a great start - but I need you to add sensory details to paint pictures in my head. Eg. “Memories of cooking, eating and laughing. My baby brother held in my mother’s arms. His hand in hers, sprinkling spices into the giant pot of bubbling, warm deliciousness. The smell of thick tomato soup filling my nose and making my stomach grumble.”
