Meaning of Home
A home should consist of many things and those things change from person to person but, the most important is love. Love is what turns a house, a lifeless structure into something wonderful and magical, something that makes you feel warm on the inside whenever you think back to it. Love should cover every surface of your home like paint. It should be infesting every crevice of that living space, no matter if it’s a house turned home or something that isn’t a house at all.
Have you ever heard of the phrase ‘the people you surround yourself with is what makes you, you’? Well, for a home, that’s the same reasoning. A home filled with loving people, close knit family members, platonic relationships or romantic partners will make a place filled with bright memories, dreams, hopes and wishes. A place where imagination and freedom exists as much as the insulation of the walls. But when you live in a place where these don’t exist, where you don’t feel safe to do those things, it’s much more likely that you don’t express yourself as much as you should. Living in a place where your hopes are shunned could make it likely that you continue to shun those ideas, even after outgrowing the toxic household. And, it’s also likely that you block the ideas of your future children as well because that was what you were taught.
I’m only twelve years old and I still have many years ahead of me to learn and grow but my childhood will forever stick with me. Everything I have experienced left an impact and I’m forever grateful that those memories are bright ones but many aren’t as lucky as me. So please, as a last message, be that home for someone, no matter who.
