Safe and Home
School is terrifying as everyday I get picked on by older kids. I watch the clock and cannot wait until the final bell rings. Being in grade four is hard. When I get home I feel happy as I take my steps into the doorway. The first thing I did was open up my backpack and was nervous to see if my classmates played a prank again. Today my backpack was empty. I was relieved to find nothing in my backpack except my lunch kit and drawing supplies. I take my paper and pencil and run upstairs to my room. I close my door and I put my paper and pencil on my desk. I lay on my bed, breathing deep breaths, as I drift off to sleep. I dream about my family and spending time with them in our home. I dream about playing board games and sharing a meal together. My mom calls me for dinner “Warren, come down. Supper is almost ready.” I roll out of bed and rub the sleep from my eyes. I yelled back to my mom “one second!” I sat at my desk and started drawing my dreams. I sketched my family eating tacos on taco Tuesday. I went downstairs to the dining room where I saw tacos and my parents waiting to eat dinner with me. We ate dinner together and talked about our day. At the end of supper I showed my parents my drawing and explained to them that it was about my dreams and how I feel safe and loved at home. My parents both gave me a hug. Being a kid is not always easy and can be hard. It is nice to be at home with your loved ones because they love me and I love them.
