A Home of a Normal Filipino

Home. A home doesn’t need to have a pool with a mall in it. But for me it’s family. Every time when I come home there’s a change in the air. I say to my grandma “ hi nanay” which means “hi mom” in Filipino but we just call her that in our family. I appreciate my family because they each do things for us. On birthdays my grandpa and grandma cook mouthwatering food but their signature dish pancit is the best! My grandpa cuts up the carrots cabbage and chicken! But first my grandma cooks the chicken in a steamer. It smells good! Then they boil water then cook the noodles. When that’s all done they serve it in a big bowl. When I taste it its really good! And my dad spends time with us. He plays basketball with me in our backyard. He built us a backboard last summer and he plays and read books to my sister and my mom always supports us same as my dad. Even though we don’t have a fancy house or lots of money we still have family.
