The Meaning of Home

The Meaning of Home A home is not a house. A home is tradition, love, memories, family, and hobbies. A house is four walls, a couch, rooms, and a carpet. The dining room isn’t just a room where you eat. It's having birthday and family dinners where we feel safe, loved, and hungry for the appetizing foods put out. It’s where you learn stories and traditions to pass them down from generation to generation. The kitchen is where you laugh over a spilled bucket of flour. It’s where you learn to appreciate the time, love, effort, and thought that goes into each served meal. Lastly, it’s where you learn family recipes, such as when my grandma taught me how to make her pasta sauce. It’s not just where you cook. Living rooms are not just a room with a couch and a TV. It’s a family room where love is shared by enjoying downtime with family members, like watching family movie night while eating snacks. Simply put, it’s where you relax. The bedroom is a place where both alone time and family time take place. The bedroom wraps me in a cocoon of safety and comfort where you can be your true self. Lastly, it’s where you can feel emotions without judgment. It’s not just a room with a bed. A home is not a house.
