Everyone Deserves a Home
I believe that everyone deserves a home to go to after a long hard day to sit down and relax. First homes give you privacy to be yourself to let out your emotions. Second, everyone needs warmth on freezing cold days . Third, a home provides shelter from physical, mental, emotional storms. Without a home houseless people go through so much more than necessary.
I am truly grateful to be able to close my door at night and not poke or watch and snuggle with my mountain of stuffed animals. It's hard to imagine going to the washroom and being stared at and being treated like trash. The thing I am most grateful of all is that I can feel like myself where NO one can judge me. Everyone needs a home for privacy and to stay warm.
-30 days are so bad but having a heated home to go to is something when it feels like my feet, ears and fingers are about to fall off from frostbite is something I am truly grateful for. I know the pain of walking on the frozen ground bare feet. It really hurts even if you put your foot down for a second. Can't even imagine walking with bare feet 24/7. The warmth of a home is just as important as the shelter it offers.
I will always remember the times when I felt sad or scared that my home was there to support me and protect me from physical or mental storms. A time home helped me a lot is when there was a bad thunderstorm. My dad and I are playing soccer in the field. And the rain started pouring down on us. We got soaking wet we ran as the thunder struck violently and the wind was pushing trees down. When we got home we were wet as dogs in a lake. The smell of warm soft tasty spaghetti made up for it. Another experience that home helped me with, was about 6 years ago when one of my dogs died. I cried so much I could say I cried in the ocean, because she was my favorite dog.
The reason so many houseless people die on the streets is because they don't have the proper shelter to survive the harsh weather.
All these reasons are why I believe the houseless deserve a home to have privacy, stay warm in the winter and be sheltered from physical or mental storms.
