In my opinion everyone should have a home, because it is a basic human right and no matter who you are you should have a home. First, everyone should have basic privacy. Second, NO ONE should have to be outside in -20 weather in a hoodie. That is NOT fair. And third, being given unfair healthcare compared to other people who are not houseless. For these everyday challenges, it is not fair to these people. Which is why it is critical to have a home. It is crucial to have privacy. Imagine waking up on a street and a little boy is looking at you? Or you are at your most vulnerable moment and you are crying and someone is walking by you and staring!?! This would be so awful for your mental health. Having to use the bathroom in front of random strangers on the streets? I love being in my room and having privacy. it would be truly awful to be in their place. The weather gets so freezing cold in Edmonton. It is so sad that people have to put up with this weather 24/7. They sometimes even have wrecked coats! they even go on a public transit bus, (which is 3$!!!) just to warm up for a bit. Not having a house to shelter you and protect you from the elements would be so awful and even possibly painful! I walk to school in the morning and it is kind of like a preview of living outside, and it is the worst! I love having a home to go to in the cold weather. People who have to deal with that all day are very brave. Being looked down upon in a hospital would be awful. Sitting in the waiting room for hours Just because you smell funny or have dirty clothes. You should NEVER be discriminated against because of how they may look or smell. That has never happened to me at a hospital and I am grateful for that. In conclusion Everyone deserves to have a home that can shelter them from the elements, keep them clean and give them the privacy they deserve. No one should have to live on the streets. No matter who they are and where they come from.
