What Is A Home
Have you ever reflected on what home truly means? If you haven't, I will tell you what home signifies to me. Home is having family close by. It is a place where birthdays are celebrated, where warmth lingers in the air. A home is an oasis of comfort, a place where you feel secure and where you belong.
It is a place where the aroma of traditional foods wafts through the atmosphere. It is a place where memories are made, shared, and never forgotten—a place where siblings’ laughter reverberates. Home is where my bed feels like a fluffy cloud and where warm hugs are as soft as pillows. My couch is the sanctuary where I enjoy reading, writing, drawing, and listening to my favorite Christian music. My home has love that cannot only be felt and seen but can also be embraced and shared.
You may like a different genre of music, like pop or rock. You might have older siblings rather than younger ones, or you may be a middle child. Maybe you have a place in your home where you like to do your pastimes other than on the couch, and maybe you have a different name for that specific place. Maybe you have traditional dishes you like to eat, and maybe you don’t, but that’s all part of your home.
Some others don’t have the privilege of warm, cozy beds or a home to call their own. So, thank you, Habitat for Humanity, for making homes more affordable to reside in.
