Home: The Place Everyone Deserves
Everyone deserves a home, whether it is an apartment, condominium, or a house. Whether it is downtown or on the outskirts of the city. A home is necessary for growth and happiness and is not recommended but mandatory. A young child’s brain is like a sponge at the ages between 5-14 so if a child experiences abuse or neglection at these ages it sticks to them like glue and could develop into a substance addiction or another version of abuse/neglection. Then again, if a child experiences love, attention, and a sense of home this will also stick to them and they will grow into a loving, caring person. These are just some reasons why a good, stable, loving home is so necessary for everyone. 64, 670 children in Manitoba face poverty, that number alone is 20.68 percent of Manitoba’s population. In Canada, 1.4 million children live in poverty. 3.5 billion people live in poverty in the world, that’s 44 percent of the world population!
A true home is different for every single person, so for me, it is waking up every morning to the sound of my parents’ voice. I lift my head from my soft, silk pillow and walk to the kitchen where I instantly see my dad making his signature crisp bacon. After breakfast, I get ready for school and go into the bathroom to brush my teeth. There I see my beautiful, curly haired, blue-eyed mom putting her bath and body works champagne toast perfume. I kiss her goodbye and fight my brother for the front seat, and I eventually let him have it, then I go to school.
I go to school every day happy, and the reality is many children do not, and I hope that every single child in the world can feel and express happiness every day. So, with this submission I know that my ten dollars will go towards someone’s forever home.
