This Island, My Home

Home is a place that welcomes me like a hug, Whether I’m happy, sad, lazy, or mad. Home is a place where I can annoy others, show my true emotions, Then in the end find endless forgiveness and sympathy… Home is a place I can sacrifice my hands to play with my cats, Yet the cuts I get never hurt, for they have already healed with Laughter. It's a place where I can complain about joining that ONE thing Yet still go… The imperfectness is beautiful, even though in plain sight It's hard to see. Home is where days are long and short, where I can wish it went on for longer, where I wish they'd just end… Home is where I can share my worries, think ahead in life without anyone accusing me. Home is where voices raise with passion for a sport. Although I don’t get it, I shall always cheer too. I’ve had and have many homes, all different and shining brightly. Home is a thing that’ll change, yet I’ll always cherish the memories Every one holds. The houses that line the streets, the mountains that reach for the sky, the pines with birds that sing… Home is this island. That is Home to Me.
