Home

A home is a safe environment for me and family. It is a place full of memories like the leak on the ceiling or the handprints on the wall. Home is not just a shelter to hide from rainstorms, hail, or snow nor is it just a place to be warm. It’s a place of love and memories in the air. Even the smallest moments become memories at home. Home is where our culture is shared with everyone. We sit at the dining room table with food that my mom made speaking Lingala and French. We will giggle and laugh. In the air, we can smell the rice and curry my mom made. It tastes like love. Home is a safe environment for new flowers to sprout into families. In their home they will have their own joy and memories. That is what home feels like to me.
