Home to Me

Home is where the fun is, home is where the laughter is, home is where you feel comfortable, home is where your family is. Laughter fills the air Jokes like look under there, underwear? All kids should have a happy place, a warm cushy feeling Sitting by the fire wrapped in a blanket, the smell of freshly baked cookies dipped in cold refreshing milk. Screaming hey why did you do that? That terrible feeling when you break your moms favorite mug You let out the truth with a heartfelt hug. A rug under your feet, a little tug from a sister they say “ Can you play with me?” A home-cooked meal when you get home, pizza, spaghetti, cookies for dessert. Singing, laughing, dancing, and screaming. On a Sunday afternoon, we get home from church, and with a lurch and a sigh, we go to our rooms. We come out for a snack every once in a while. We meet up at the dinner table to eat and to talk, but little does mom know we feed food to the dog, siblings being hogs, everyone finishes and then comes dessert. Home is where you can be you, and nobody judges. You can be you and grow up strong, with some help from your family every day.
