Home Is Not A House, It's Much More!
Home Is Not A House, It’s More!
By: Charlotte Martel
Home is not a house. Home is baking brownies and fresh bread, smelling the sweet aroma of both. Home is playing video and board games with family members, laughing and feeling amused while and after. Home is gardening in the spring, which I love. It helps me find a sense of happiness and, it’s very calming. Home helps me find my sense of relaxation and comfort. My room is where I collapse in the covers of my soft, warm bed. The living room is where I lie for hours, simply watching the television. In the kitchen, I prepare delicious snacks, lunches, and rarely dinners for my family. Where I make breakfast and pack my school bag. The dining room is where my family and I laugh over home cooked meals. Where I pack my swim and softball bags. Every room in my home is different to me in a great amount of different ways. From the basement to my parents room. Always be grateful for everything life’s given you, sadly, not everyone has such a great life or home. Some people don’t get to feel the warm cozy serenity of a home. Not everyone has such a gracious life, with the kind aroma of a loving family. Not everyone has a warm bed to collapse on. Home should feel safe, content. I adore my excitement for tomorrow after I get in bed, my “I don’t want dinner I want a smoothie” moments, setting up for Christmas, Halloween, Easter, Valentines, St. Patrick’s. Getting home from sports, only to jump in the shower and go to sleep, saying nothing to my parents. Going on trips such as Texas, Vegas, Disneyland, Ireland, Hawaii and so many more! Feeling content and happy in my home helps me find my sense of relaxation. Home is family. Home is friends --- who love you tremendously. Home is sports. Home is school (for people who enjoy it). Home is food. But most importantly, home is home. It’s always been there and it always will. From the beginning to the end, your home will support you, and cherish you. The memories you make are too precious, or too horrendous. From losing your first tooth to graduating high school, your home is with you for the whole thing. You can treat it poorly, but just remember what was always there.
