My Home
My Home

As for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.” -Joshua 24:15
This Bible verse relates to many areas when it comes to my home. The three that stick out the most are how I serve, how I treat my mom and grandparents and how I react to certain situations.
Serving the Lord means to do His will. There are times I would like to play video games all evening when I have something like chores to do. Even though I'm tempted to hide in my basement and play, I remember that Jesus always serves others. I serve by doing chores. It pleases the Lord and helps my mom out.
The Bible says how the Lord wants you to treat your parents and grandparents. My grandparents have a wooden sign that hangs in their front entrance hall. It says, “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord”. There are times I say something that I know is wrong and hurtful to someone I love. That is not serving the Lord. With God's help, I realize what I did wrong and I apologize.
When it comes to reacting to certain situations, I always think to myself, “WWJD” what would Jesus do. I was playing a video game with a group of friends and there was this one boy who is normally nice, but in front of people, he can be mean and rude. Instead of getting mad or saying mean things to him, I told him what he was saying was not nice. I just decided to remove him from my friends list and block him on the video game.
I serve God by doing chores when asked, I respect and honor my mom and grandparents by not speaking rudely and I deal with conflict according to what I think Jesus would do, if he was alive in our time. By serving the Lord in my house, it has made relationships much stronger and it provides me with a safe place to grow up according to God's purpose.
