Home is Poutine

Home is a homemade poutine. Home is swimming. Home is writing. Home is a poutine. The crispy, brown french fries are friends and family since every french fry is unique and depends on the crispness, just like people’s personalities. The squeaky white cheese is the sense of belonging. No one asks why it’s squeaky. It just is. The thick, brown, gravy sauce is my feelings. My feelings just flow around letting everything out like the sauce flows through the golden fries and cheese. Home is like poutine with 'unique’ crispy fries, 'feelings’ sauce and squeaky cheese ´personality’ that just belongs. Home is swimming. The coaches and swimmers in the pool are friends and family there for help or just for fun. The different types of swims are your feelings, butterfly (my personal favorite) is when you're excited about something as you swing your arms around the water and your body follows the same motion. Backstroke is when you're sad, as your arms hit the water you're letting out all of your sadness and pushing it away behind you as you literally move on. Breaststroke is anger, as you're throwing your body forwards, letting it go away and kicking it literally behind you. Freestyle is the sense of belonging as you glide freely through the water. Home is swimming gracefully through life. Home is writing. As your pencil flows on the paper from the little pink line to the other. You unleash all your stress and feelings without judgement or argument. Home is writing. Homemade poutine, swimming and writing are some of the things I consider to be home.
