Home is my Anchor

My home is not just walls and a roof. It's the most familiar thing that I know. Home is where I belong. Home is six hearts beating as one. Through giggling efforts and moments of fun at 11 years old, I'm learning to lead, helping my brothers like planting a seed. Home is where faith lights the way, where we give thanks every day. Home is the melody of everyday life. With the familiar voices making me feel cozy on a winter night. Home is not just a building, it's a feeling where my heart feels full. Home is where the comforting support of my family keeps me warmer than any fire pit. Home is not perfect, but it's its imperfections that I love the most. I feel love in my home, wrapped in the unwavering support of two parents who stand by me through life's highs and lows. Their love is a steady anchor, providing warmth and strength when the world feels uncertain. I feel comfort in these walls because here, I can truly be myself. It's a space where I am free to express, to grow, and to rest without judgment. This is the sanctuary where my soul finds peace. Home is where memories are good and bad. I used to think a home was just a place you live in, a shelter in a place you hide from reality. The basement is messy with my brother’s Lego,s my room is full of only-fiction books, and in the kitchen, my nan cooks. Underneath the cover of my seemingly normal home, there’s a tangled knot of emotions that my family and I felt. Now I’ve learned that home is a word with millions of definitions. For me, home means love, hope, and family. And you can’t try to find your home if you’re already home. I am home. Thank you, Habitat for Humanity, for helping to find and define the meaning of home for humankind, gradually making the world a better place.
