The Meaning of Home
A home is not walls or a roof. Home is me returning after a long school day and seeing my dog sprint as hard as he can. When I come home, his tail wags like two hundred miles per hour, He starts licking and barking at me!
Home is playing little hockey sticks upstairs with my sister and hearing the bang of my stick if it hits the roof. Home smells like wet hockey gear when I walk into my garage and looks like all my gear and sticks drying on the drying rack with all my baseball and road hockey stuff.
A home is a safe place for resting if I'm sick or hurt. Home smells like fresh baked chocolate chip, ginger snap, and oatmeal cookies that I give to neighbors every year at Christmas. It fills their bucket every time. Home smells like waffles on my birthday with whipped cream and strawberry compo. It makes me feel loved when my mom and dad make me waffles on my birthday. Home feels like my dog's fur when I come down to pet him while I'm sitting down on my couch with my mom and watching a show together.
Home makes me feel happy when I get to go into my backyard with my dad and we sit outside and throw balls for my dog. My home looks like NHL on the tv, me upstairs playing around, my dog barking outside, and it sometimes smells like hot chocolate on a cold day. My plate tastes like healthy food prepared by my mom and dad. Home tastes like homemade pasta while I hear Italian music.
I feel like everyone should have a home in the future and that habitat for homes is great company for people with no homes!
