Home is Not Just a Building

Home is not just a building. It is where all your memories are from. When I walk up the stairs, the tips of my toes are freezing cold. I can smell the bacon sizzling on the pan on the weekend. I taste the freshly picked carrots from the garden. I hear the crunch as I bite into the carrot. I can see a beloved family surrounding me every day. Also, I can hear piano tunes from my mom. I can taste the ginger snap cookies straight out of the oven that my Nana specially baked for me. I feel the warm bright sun on my body from the landing of the stairs window. When I curl up in a fuzzy blanket, I feel safe, happy, and loved. But now I have moved from Alberta to Comox. It was hard to move and let go of my old home. Then I was wondering if I would ever see my family again, but I was young, so I did not understand that my family could just visit us a lot. Moving to a new house was like the first day of school. But the hardest part was that I did not know anyone. But as I stayed here for longer, the more my house became home, and now I have lots of memories from my new home! I still remember my old home that I think about every day. Moving is hard, but, in the end, it will be okay.
