The Meaning of Home

A house is just a building with four walls and a roof until you make it something special. A home is where lifelong memories are made, and it is where I feel safe and loved. Home is where I get playfully greeted at the door by my dog, at the end of a long day. When I am at home, I can hear football blaring from upstairs, and my mom is learning to play the piano. I smell the scent of freshly cut wood in the garage when my dad is working on a project. I can hear the sound of the table saw when my dad is working. I can taste my mom's bone broth soup when I come home from practice every night. When my dad makes dinner, I can taste spaghetti with bison sauce. If I am feeling upset or unhappy, home is where I want to be. When it is freezing outside my home, I can go in and feel warm and cozy. My home will always be there for me when I need it most. I have lived in ten different homes. Whether that home is in Vancouver or Mount Washington, I will always have my family to make it feel like anywhere could be home. I have lived in apartments, town homes, and houses. I feel at home when I have my mom, dad, and my dog Winnie. No matter where my home is, I will always have my family. When I am at home, I feel safe, loved, special, happy, good about myself, and that is why I love my home, and the people in it too
