Home Means to Me

Home means to me Home means to me being safe, loved, supported, accepted and cared for by people who think I am the greatest. (they're not wrong!) Being cared for means you can just be yourself and it doesn’t matter if you are silly and weird or embarrassed about something, because the people in your home don’t care about those things, they just care about you! At school and other places there is always going to be someone who will be rude and call you names, (Believe me, it’s happened to me lots as well!) But don’t worry about those people, because your family will always be there to support you and give you many compliments. Having a home doesn't mean it’s a building, it means you have a space where you are loved and cared for, in fact some people live out on the streets and they might not have a house, but they might have a place where they feel safe. For me, my home isn’t just the building that makes it so special, it’s the people inside that love me, care for me and make me feel so special each day. It’s my younger brother coming into my room to wake me up for breakfast and walking down the stairs with me, it’s my parents welcoming me with smiles and “good morning hugs,” it’s my older brother who has to leave for school early to catch the bus but always says good morning and I love you and it’s my cat named Shay who yowls in my face but always let’s me pick her up. That's what home means to me. I love my home because I can be myself, my actions are respected and I’m always loved, no matter what I do. This is what home means to me.
