Home is my Heart
Home can be so many things to people; reliable, nice, perfect, and to me, it’s almost everything to me. When I’m home, I love to hang out with my family and friends. I have moved a bunch of times, but I still miss some of the oldest homes I used to live in. Every day I question what I’d do without my home, and to be honest, I probably wouldn’t be where I am today. Everything relies on our homes, including our safety, livability, warmth, and a place to sleep, etc. I would do anything to stay in the house I live in. As I write this, I’m thinking about all the times I’ve been comforted in my house, which makes me smile.
When I’m home, I get to be myself, and no one judges me. I get to express myself in a way I could never do in public, and it feels great. People who are homeless never get to express themselves that way. It's sad to see it, and I want to give them that chance. I want to share that feeling of coziness and being safe with people who don’t have a home, and here, I can do that. I know it’s right now while I’m typing this about a 1 in 1400 chance, and I know I probably won’t win, yet it’s still worth a shot.
