Definition of Home

Have you ever gone to the dictionary and searched for the meaning of “Home”? If you’ve done so like me when I was little, You and I probably thought home was just a place where you live permanently with your family. Let me tell you this, we are both terribly wrong. Home is a place where all your inside emotions live, Where your deepest darkest secrets are, And/or a place where you just love to be in. Your home might be different from mine, Way different but at the same time similar, You might like cozy places to be in Or loud parties to relax in Nevertheless home is home. You might have been outside of your home, Maybe in a supermarket, Or in a whole other place, Your physical body might have moved, But your heart will always stay in your home. In your home you could express all your feelings, You might feel joy in your home, Comfort, sleepy, Or even sad, or grumpy, But all of those feelings combine into one, Safety. A home is where peace lives, Away from the outside world, A home is where you could express your feelings, Feelings nobody else would know. A home is where you are loved, cared for, And most importantly, safe. Looking back on my experiences, home is far more than just a roof and a few walls. Home is the base of who we are and what we do. It is where we grow up, learn, and do so many more things. Home shapes our future and reminds us how lucky we are to have a home with loved ones always by your side. Thank you Habitat for Humanity Canada for reading and understanding what home truly meant to me.
