My Family Is My Home
I have lived in two countries, Israel and Canada. Which country do I belong to?
I thought I would like my home to be in Israel where my dad came from. Yet, what did I know before we moved there? My home there had three bedrooms, just what we needed, for our
family of four. We had a big yard, a small kitchen, and a messy living room. That made us extra cozy in the winter. We also had old paintings from my great grandfather and a sofa from my aunt, which made me feel connected with my family.
We went to my grandparents' home every Friday, and had dinner together. I had sleepovers and play dates with friends every week. Every time I met my friends, we played hide and seek until we exhausted ourselves, and watched movies afterwards. However, a war started and changed my life a lot. When there where sirens from missile attacks, we had to sleep in the shelter. I couldn't go to school and play with my friends outside like we did before, so we found ways to play together in the shelter.
We enjoyed our lives there before the war, but decided to move back to Vancouver in Canada where I was born. It was really sad for me because I really miss my grandparents and my friends there, but there is no war in Vancouver. I don't know which country I belong to but I know I belong to my home which is my family.
