My safe place

Home, your shelter and place to go when you have nowhere else. But it’s more than that, it’s the warmth of family, the comforting smell that puts you to sleep at night, and the memories you make with adventures. After a draining school day all you want to do is go home. Home is the relief, when you walk in and feel the feeling of safety wasting through the air. You hear the oven dinging as you smell the fresh cookies, the sweet and sugary scent rushing towards the door. When you’re home you don’t have to pretend to be someone you’re not, you can be yourself with nobody judging you every second. It acts like a forcefield, keeping all the negatives and bad things out, but even when they get in your home it is there to help build you back up and higher your confidence. Home isn't just a shelter with a roof over your head and walls barricading you in, it’s your loved ones, and a safe place. Home can be anywhere, it can be in your sports, your school, even at work! I feel at home when my family all watches sports together, everyone screaming at the tv, me and my older sister laughing, all while my younger sister plays on her phone. It doesn't matter if everyone’s watching, it feels special because everyone is there together. All in all, home is a place where you feel loved and safe, no matter where you are. This is what home means to me!
