Scenes of Home

Marble, sleek counter and its best friends sink and stove. They make food that tells my taste buds to say yum. Dad standing in the kitchen cooking up some chicken. The dog’s eyes are watering, me a lick, to give him a bite and he waddles back to just sit as his mouth starts to slobber. I give him a lick. He says thank you just before he waddles away to take a nap to the very next day. After that the beast is asleep so my dad can start whipping up a five star feast. When he finally finishes mixing and fixing the food, all of us sit down ready to devour the brute of a mashed potato mountain. When we hear the twinkle of a bell. The cat comes along under the table waiting for her scratches and pets. Once she's through circling us, she is satisfied and jogs away and sleeps with the dog. Now we go through the table telling new and old stories about the family. Now that's what I call home.
