What Home Means to Me
Everybody has a different place they call home, but that does not mean that they have somewhere to live. It could be anywhere you feel comfortable, have culture, and be treated equitably. In my home I have people that love and care about me. My home is important to me because it is one of the only places I feel accepted. I always know when I go home my mom and dad are there working but still make time for me, my brother, and my sister. Home means many different things to me, but the ones that stand out the most are unique culture, comfort, and being treated equitably.
I think every home has its own unique culture. Lots of things can make each home’s culture special. Some homes like mine are loud, but others are quiet. In my home, we live on a farm with many horses which is different than most of my friends. I’m lucky because my Mom wants us to be healthy. She gets us to try lots of different foods, and gets us to do sports and chores to help take care of the ponies. Where we live, and the people we live with are what make each home’s culture different.
I think it is important that your home feels comfortable. It should be a place where you can relax. This means a comfortable chair and bed, but also means a place that makes you happy. If you’re feeling sad after school, it is a place where you can reset and get a good night’s sleep to feel better the next day. In my home, we have a comfy couch near the warm fireplace where I like to watch TV with my brother and sister. My home is where I feel comfortable and can just be myself.
Home should also be equitable. My home is equitable because my Mom makes sure we all get healthy food. My brother does not like different foods so my Mom gives him extra screen time when he tries new things so he stays healthy. I also get more food than my sister because she is smaller and eats less than me. This means we don’t all get the same thing, but we all get what we need.
A great home has a unique culture, is comfortable, and equitable for everyone in it. My favourite thing about our home is how we all work together and take care of each other. It is important that you have a home where you feel loved and accepted. I hope that in the future, everyone has a home that feels like mine does to me. In the future I also hope that differences will be made.
