What Defines Home
In my home, we can always help each other, it can be with small things like math homework or dictée practice, but it can also be with big things like overcoming mental struggles and injuries. My home is important to me because of these three things. My family, my safety and my memories.
A home is nothing but a hollow cube without a family. Even in 2022 when the power went out for six days, the home didn’t change. The house did. It got colder and more uncomfortable, but we were huddled in the living room, cooking food on the fire and even in the cold we were having fun.
A home can be very uncomfortable without a sense of privacy and security. Sure, it can still get robbed or broken into, but for the most part a good home is safe. Then there’s the privacy aspect. I live on a hill in a forest and I have a great view of the road down below. I like the sense of privacy that I can see them but they can’t see me.
The last main key that defines a good home in my opinion is the memories. I have so many amazing memories of my home. The parties, the chimney fires and the holidays. All of these memories define my home, and even if your home is new to you, as the years go by the memories of your home will eventually define your home. They could be good, bad or mixed but I hope for everybody that they will have mostly good memories of their homes.
My favorite part about my home is how safe I feel, how loved I feel and how my memories have sculpted my home over the years. I hope that in the future everybody can have a home and experience all of the great things that having a home gives, including being safe, loved and having great memories of your home.
