What Home Means to Me

Have you ever wondered what home means to you? To me, home is a place where no one feels judged or uncomfortable. For example; if you are feeling stressed or uncomfortable then you probably aren't home. It is also a place where you are with your loved ones and your friends. I know that I'm home when I see my mom and dad working and making dinner. Furthermore, home to me sounds like joyful laughter from the people around me. For example; if you came home to laughter you would feel better than if you came home to stress and yelling. Thirdly, home to me looks like my family holding out their arms for me to hug them. That makes me feel at home and like I belong. It also looks like my sister sitting on the couch doing her homework when I get home from my extracurricular activities. Additionally, it looks like my dad sitting at the dinner table working and my mom working in the office. Fourthly, home to me smells like my dad’s cooking either fried rice or leftovers. This is when I feel like I’m at home because I always grew up with these foods. They also remind me of the scent in my grandparents house. Lastly, home tastes like my dad’s famous steak dinner because he always tries to make the best food for me. I also like the lunches and dinners he prepares for me. Overall, home is a calm and relaxing environment, where you feel comfortable to share your feelings and be yourself.
