The Meaning of Home

To me home means being with my family and the ones who are always there for me and care for me. Home to me smells like my mom making me breakfast everyday. Home to me feels like having my mom, my dad, my brother and my sister there to help me when I need them the most. Home is where my brother makes time to spend with me. Home reminds me of the times my mom and I cook Thanksgiving dinner every year. We cook not only for my family but also our relatives who live far away and drive a very far distance just so my entire family can be together. Home to me sounds like my sister playing with her friends and my brother hitting home runs on a video game. It also sounds like my dad tapping at his phone planning flights for my family. Another sound I hear at home is joyful laughter everyday coming from my mom. Home to me looks like my brother having my back when I make a mistake. My mom works day and night and then she acts like she’s fine, but I know that it’s really hard for her to do everything by herself. Home is where my mom thinks she can do it all by herself and tells me, “I can do it myself.” Home is where I always try to help my mom with whatever she is doing. Home is where I see my mom work hard everyday. Home is where I feel very grateful for everything my mom does for me. Home reminds me of when I bake my favorite things like cookies with my mom. Home reminds me to be thankful for what I have and what my family does for me.
