A Place to Call Home
Olivia was a young girl who loved her home. She loved everything about it. The rooms, the backyard, everything. She thought everyone had a heavenly household to call home. But then one chilly winter day on her way to school, she saw a homeless person on the street. She was confused by why someone was wandering outside in the cold when they could be in their cozy nest with the warmth. When Olivia got home that day, she asked her parents about it. They told her all about how there is homelessness happening everywhere. That night, she tossed and turned. All she thought about was all the people who didn’t have a place to call home. The next day, she went for a walk. She saw the same person she had seen the day before, next to their tent looking as cold as ice. She wanted to do something about it. So she ran home as fast as lightning, to start brainstorming ideas on how she could help them get their own place to call theirs. Olivia brainstormed, researched, and finally discovered a solution that seemed easy enough for her to do by herself. She had decided to ask people around her local neighbourhood for donations. Right away, her plan shot into action. After going around her whole neighbourhood, she had raised what felt like bagfuls of money for the homeless person. When she gave them the money, they looked overjoyed with emotions. Later, she had seen that the homeless person was a bit sad they could move out, because although their tent was small, it was part of their entire journey and it felt like home. When Olivia got home that day, she felt happy, and also very blessed to have a place to call home.
