A Home for Jim

Jim was always moving around from place to place; hotels, apartments, you name it. His family did not have enough money to buy a house, and he thought he would never truly have a home. But one day, everything changed. This is Jim’s story. One day, when Jim got home from school his family had a surprise for him. “We have enough money to buy a new house!” his mom exclaimed. “But we don’t have enough money for furniture yet,” his dad explained. “What are we going to do then?” Jim asked. “I don’t know, but we are looking for cheap stuff,” his mom told him. “If you see anything, tell us, okay?” “Okay, Mom,” Jim said. The next day at school, Jim told his friends the news. “I’m going to get a new house, guys!” Jim shared. “That’s great,” said Mike. “But we can’t get furniture,” Jim added. “I know a place!” Kyle chimed in. “Where?” Jim asked. “It’s called the Habitat for Humanity store. My cousin got his furniture there,” stated Kyle. “That’s awesome!” Jim yelled. Then the bell rang. “See you tomorrow, guys,” Jim said. When Jim got home, he told his family about the Habitat for Humanity store. “That’s wonderful, Jim. Now we can move!” His dad said excitedly. After Jim moved, he finally felt at home—safe, happy, and surrounded by his family and dog. He knew he would always have a place to call home. From then on, Jim and his family created many great memories together in their home. Their new house was now their home. That is the story of Jim and how he found his forever home.
