Home, Sweet, Home Away from Home
Home Sweet, Home Away From Home
By: Kennady Ho
The sound of water splashing,
This is home.
The sound of families laughing,
This is home.
The sound of kids playing,
This is home.
The sounds of “Do we have to do fly?”,
This is also home.
The sounds of “Mom, he hit me!”,
This is also home.
The sounds of “Stop talking!”,
This is also home.
To the sounds of “Yay! Breaststroke!”,
This is home.
And also the sounds of “I’m really sorry..”
This is home.
As well as the sounds of “Awesome, art!”
This is home.
Home means many things to different people. The meaning of home isn’t spending time in your room or being alone. It’s about spending time with the people you love. For me, I like spending time with my family.
Spending time with my family is like snuggling up in a cozy, warm blanket with hot chocolate in the cold icy winter. It’s like watching the first flower bloom in spring, like getting that first taste of that sweet vanilla ice cream in the summertime. It’s like when you jump into a big leaf pile in fall.
Or maybe imagine you’re a refugee/homeless and you just got donated a home that you couldn’t afford. Wouldn't you be forever grateful for that home?
Home is a place you feel safe and loved. “Home is where the heart is,” as people say.
