Home Safe Home

I open my eyes and see bright lights I don't know where I am, but I hear buzzing noises and chatter everywhere. I hear footsteps and someone says “Baby, welcome to the world!” Everything is so bright and loud, Oh! I just want to close my eyes. I hear the big man say that I can go Home! Hmm... wonder what home means. Excitement unraveled when I realized... Home is not just a word you say, It's my world where my family stays. Home has no accommodation for fright, But a site which is just perfect and right. This is the place where I can express my emotions, Without worrying about any demotions. As I take little steps forward, I fall and learn, That my home is still safe, a haven I will always yearn. Once, my mother took me out to play. Oh! I had so much fun! but my feet felt like clay. My shoes I wanted good riddance! Oh! a warm bath with bubbles is all I want. I reached home, my feet touched the wooden floor. Oh Goodness! What Joy! Home safe Home. Time flies, seasons change, once spring, now winter to stay. My feet tread on heavy snow, fingers frostbitten, feet heavy as lead... Hush... just a few more steps to reach where I long to be. I see my home and run towards it, At the door, I get inside with glee. The warm air touches my cheek, snowflakes melt in my hair, My heart is warm, I feel myself again. Lo! at the corner I see my cozy chair and I sink in it. Home safe Home. As I grow older, my home is where I want to be I thank Habitat for humanity for this wonderful opportunity For making dreams come true.
